Bartell, as coach, teacher and dean, students and gradu- ates remember the help and understanding you have given to all. Your dedi- cation to high ideals, education and to life commands the respect of both students and professors. Your fairness and friendliness makes us happy to talk with you - whether at a ballgame, on campus, or in your office. As goodwill ambassador to area high schools, you have helped in attaining the record 1009 enrollment this year. In recognition and gratification of your numerous contributions to West Liberty State College and all students, we dedicate this 1961 WINDING ROAD to you, Dr. Joseph A. Bartell. 4 President PAUL N.. ELBIN l' fo amen! QI We walked on temporary wooden sidewalks and sometimes in mud, but nobody complained. West Liberty State College, caught in the long- predicted rising tide of students, was doing its best to build for the future - a future that seemed to be here already. Campus enrollment shot past the one-thousand mark. The new build- ing under construction was costing a million and a quarter dollars, but in the offices, plans were being made for other buildings to meet other needs and to serve another thousand students expected in the next decade. Yes, 1960-61 was a year to remember. It will serve as the dividing line between the old and the new West Liberty. And you were there! Lucky you! PAUL N.
