3 7 9 1 W L INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL The Sopliomore t;irls won a last and lurioiis victory over the l kie lays, a team com- posed ot girls Irom tiie other three classes, in the intramural tournaments held March 18-19 at the coUej e gymnasium. The ISlue )ays. managing to hold their own, played a good detensive. c ' cn making several baskets, but due to the rustiness of the birds ' , the Sophomores overwhelmed them. At the end of the half, the Sophomores led by one point and the Blue Jays were slowly pur- suing them. In the last quarter the birds hatl their wings clipped and the Sophomores flew for a final score of 1 3-6. Miss Clara Zeidler coached both teams. The Junior boys won the intramural championship by g.iining decisive victories over the Sophomores and Freshmen. The first game of the tournament, played by the Freshmen and tlie Seniors, resulted in a victory for the Freshmen 2iH-2t. The luniors won the secontl game, which they played with the Sophomores 32-Ui. In the tinal game, the Juniors defeated the FVeshmen by a score ol 411-24. yVU the games were exciting and breath-taking with first a victory for one side and then a victory for the other. Cheering from all sitles shook the rafters and inspired the perspirmg teams up to the very end of the tournament. Compliments of W. J. LUKENS CO. Sept. 23 — Classes organized. Sept. 29 — Bill Barnett was elected president Student Council. Oct. 3 — Seniors maile trip to Bethany and were dizzy Ironi clinibnig the tower. .Ml ate six hot dogs ' . Oct. 9 — Nothing special. Oct. 19 — First P. T. A. meeting. Nov. 11 — . rmistice Dav. Peace reigneil tliroughout the school — holiday. Nov. 12-13 — No school. Teachers went to Huntington for a meeting. Nov. 25 — Mr. C. B. Price spoke in assemb1v--had moving pictures. Nov. 25-30 — Thanksgiving vacation. Dec. 5 — Bethany vs. West Liberty in basketball. W. L. Id; Beth. 13. Dec. 9 — Seniors went to get ads for annual. Dec. 11 — West Liberty vs Bethany — we won. Dec. 18 — Mr. Steckel gave program for Christmas. Santa came to town. Jan. 4 — Back again after long vacation. Couldn ' t settle down to work. Jan. 16— Played McKinley in basketball. W. L. 30; McK. 14. )an. IcS — finished semester exams! What a relief to get some sleep! Feb. S — Lost to Linsly by seven points. Strange floor. Feb. 13 — Won over Yorkville after hard struggle. Flood ilidn ' t bother us. Feb. IM — No snow. Last year ten feet. Feb. 26 — Cleaned up on Sherrard with highest points of games so far. Mar. 4 — W. G. Bales gave program in assembly. Fven the Seniors turned green w.th fright! Mar. 18-19 — Class tournaments. Junior boys victorious. Sophomore girls won over girls of other classes. Mar. 29 — Back again after Easter vacation. Too much candy to feel right. April 1 — No tricks! April 6 — Started on play. April 12 — Annual not ready to go to press. April 27 — Cireen CJhost ! Big success. April 30 — Freshman-Sophomore party. Big event for Freshman. May 18 — Open House aiul Shooting Stars for an operetta. May 26 — On best behavior! junior-Senior banquet and formal dresses. May 27 — Ants, bugs, dirt, and fun — picnic. May 28 — At last!
