3 9 1 W INFANCY TO MATURITY The Seniors caught their first j;limpse of the inside of West Liberty high school away back in the year of 1915, when they carollrd as Freshmen with Miss Audrey La .ear as their advisor. It took about two months to become accustomed to the ways of the school and to get organi .ed into a cktss. The president elected was Isabell Scheut7 and for all four years in high school she was elected president of her class. This is the lirst time in the history of the school that this incident has ever occurred. Cheer-leaders for the basketball games were chosen. The only social atlair of the year was the Freshman-Sophomore party. In the fall of ' 34 the same class came back and enrolled as Sophomores, with the hope of doing things worthwhile that year. One peek into the treasury at the end of the year proved that they had obtained their goal. Resides selling candy and making a profit of $S(). the class won the intramural basketball championship. This group entered its third year in high school with the title the peppiest class m school. ' As luniors, they tried and succeeded in something that no preceding )unior class had ever done. This was the production of Tiger House . Ask anyone who was there ; nd lind out for yourself if it wasn ' t a successful production. The Seniors enioyed a ban- quet and theater party that was given m their honor by the lumor class. This event was the climax of the three years that the luniors had been there. Entering into the f nal year of high school work, the Freshmen ol ' 15, found their class greatly reduced in number. Only ten members graduated; the rest either dropped out of school or transferred to other schools. The English Literature class, made up of seniors, made a pilgrimage to Bethany at the time they were studying Chaucer. While in L.ethany they Msited the home of Alexantler Campbell. Later each student told one of the Canterbury Talcs. The x- Senior girls formed the Mixed Nut club and were objects of amusemL-nt throughout the year while the boys ran a close second. •[•he second annual Liberteean in the history of the school was sponsored and pub- lished by ihe Senior class.
