V -WJ' Fine and Literary Arts at W.L.H.S. West Liberty is fortunate for so small a school to have excellent activities in the fine and literary arts. In April Gary Gildner, a published poet, visited for a day to read and discuss his poetry and the poems of 'N' W.L.H.S. students. May brought Creative Arts Night with displays in the creative and industrial arts and the performance of several dances choreographed by students and Miss Nelson. This program brought to the attention of the community the many and varied talents of our students that receive little attention during the school year. Concert Band Receives s I l 1 Rating at Contest 2 ,ec ' T it ' gi 3 Band, ha haf, often seems to be the feeling of some people --W in the school, but this group of students Works hard and often receives very little credit. As in sports, hours of dili- gent practice are required before a performance, but unlike F re sports, the band receives little recognition for their accom- C ' plishments. This year at small group contest seven groups got a I rating-the highest possible. The concert band Went to contest and they also received a I rating. W.L.H.S. can be very proud to have a band like ours and a director like Mr. Weaver.
