A year of surprises Finishing their season with a record of three wins and eight losses, the girls Varsity swim team is looking to the future with great promise. The 79 season was a building year with more surprises coming up each meet, commented Varsity coach Miss Peggy Michalowski. The team consisted of 22 girls, predominantly freshmen and so- phomores. The following girls set school records during the season; Debbie Durante, Patty Durante, Marty Dickens, Cheryl Mucher and Barb Oddo. We ' ll miss our seniors; Pam Neuzil, Ronnie Waitkus, and divers Linda Keith, and Norine Faticante, commented team members and coaches Miss Michaelowski and Mr. O ' Donnell, but all are looking forward to a more experienced and successful team next year. Bl CDiJtiJlJCCB Exhausted, but determined to go on, Ronr Waitkus takes a breath of air as she completes a lap of the pool with her freestyle swimming event of the day. Splashing water sprays Cheryl Mucher as she heads down the stretch of a race in which she does the backstroke, an event where she gives her best to win. Gasping for an intake of air, Sophomore Karen Miletich swims lap after lap trying to break another school record in their upcoming meet against Hinsdale South. 52 HHHi
