Kolodziej. ponsors Student American Field Service International Schol- arships is the sponsor of a program whereby a foreign student is able to live for a year in the West Leyden community. The club also hopes to sponsor a West Leyden student overseas for one year. This develops the personal associa- tion between individuals of different nations. It brings friendships between nations. The AFS activities include the first dance of the year, the annual Charlie Brown Day, a Penny Drive, and an all school carnival. The adult chapter is an important part of AFS. Their primary concern is finding parents for the students at West Leyden.

EIHCCI' The Lancer staff works hard to put out a bi-monthly school newspaper, making paste-ups, taking and printing pictures, and writing and fitting copy. A new addition to the Lancer is Sylvia Sob Saver, who solves or at least listens to any student problems and then answers their letters. The Lancer staff sponsors the paperback bookstore.
