The day was late in May, and the occasion was the 1970 junior-Senior Prom, Traces. The couples arrived at the M and M Club, and the evening began, promising to be one they would always remember. After dinner had been served the couples sat back in anticipation of the crowning of the queen. As the queen was announced, Queen Karen judge came forth with escort Tony Hildebrand and the evening passed to be no more except in memory. Traces 7 970 s Z Q f .

Graduation 1970 With faces reflecting sorrow, joy, anticipation, hesit- ance and wonder the class of 1970 were united for their last time as students of West Leyden. They were there to perform the last and oldest of Leyden's traditions - the ritual of graduation. To the sounds of Pomp and Circumstancef' the graduates entered the fieldhouse where they took their seats waiting for that final moment and honor: the diploma. For some their futures are set, for others they have not even planned ahead to tomorrow, but for all there is the future. And now the future has pushed them in Leyden's past. TOP: A long wait.
