Home Economics The main purpose of the Home Economics Depart- ment is to make the student aware of the interacting influence of home and community and of the individu- al responsibility of helping raise the standards of com- munity life. M. is to pro- vide all types of audio visual materials to supplement students' research and a quiet study area for their use. For the first time, librarians and the A.V. director are on many of the major teaching teams. The goal that they hope for, through these changes, is that advanced planning will allow them to serve the students' needs better. Curriculum changes are being made in several areas, such as a pre-vocational workshop and home economics complex. These new courses are to stimu- late actual work experience and to develop good atti- tudes and habits that can be transferred to a real work situation. Further plans are also being made for a shel- tered workshop in room 072. This will be an actual production line and help the students develop abilities and interests that they could use in a factory setting. -:- . Q.
