Mathematics Receives Wang Computor The Math Department, headed by Mrs. Wilson, has introduced some new equipment to the students and teachers. A set of cassette tapes has been prepared for the Algebra I classes, a set of prepared projecturals has been in use in the Algebra II, Algebra III-Trig classes. Also, a Wang Computer has been purchased for use in all classes. To provide the mathematics necessary for high school graduation and college entrance are just two of the objectives of the Math Department.

The English Department, headed by Mr. Tweed, is constantly improving. This year they added new read- ing facilities. They are available to all interested stu- dents who wish to improve their reading speed and comprehension. The department has also added sever- al new teachers to West Leyden's English staff. With the constant improvements in equipment and teachers, the students are benefiting greatly.

He concentrated on improv- ing his teaching techniques so that he could incorpo- rate these new ideas into the department. This fall, science students went on a five day field trip to Kettle Moraine, Wisconsin. They mapped the bot- tom ofa lake in an attempt to identify the characteris- tics of glacial geology.
