Baseball The 1970 Varsity Baseball team, coached by Mr. Schmidt and Mr. Bronge, was a good hardworking team always striving for the top. They finished in a third place tie with Morton West with a record of 8-6. Their season record was 12-8 which set a new record for most wins by a West Leyden baseball team with 12. The team won the district baseball title by beating Immaculate Conception 7-3 and then Proviso West in the finals 7-6. lim Rice was the years most valuable player. He and Keith Szczepanski made All-Conference. The freshman baseball team,'headed by Coach Lu- kas, drove to a third place tie with Hinsdale South. They ended the season with a four game winning streak. Mike Conforti proved to be the most valuable player on the freshman team. With the knowledge and experience gained during the 1970 season, the 1971 season should prove to be both interesting and prosperous. 'Na q? ff A ff-iii' .. ,agar ,W , ss.: x .,.
