Coach Carl Gebhardt, Coach Darl Kriete. Sophomore Football The sophomore football team under the direction of head coach john Farney, and assistant coaches Darl Kriete and Carl Gebhart, had a record 1-7. Their only victory came as they held Willowbrook back from scor- ing. It was a defensive battle with the West Leyden sophomores scoring eight points. Co-captains Larry Pack and Mike Ginski led their other teamates. Injuries hurt the team. Coach Farney said the guys on this team had a fine attitude and that their losses resulted from mistakes and penalties. He expects a very fine varsity team in the future. The outstanding players for the 1970-1971 season were quarterbacks jim Constantino and Mike Spejcher, center joe Czerwinskip full-back Casimir Fazzi, half-back Nick Menotti, guards Mike Ginski, jim Hartney, Larry Pack, and Ron Nolan, end Ron Banaszek, Don Meccia, and Gary Nardiello. Sophomore half-back Nick Menotti carries the ball against Addison Trail.

How- ever, the freshmen worked hard to learn the funda- mentals and the varsity system. The freshman team shows good potential in size and speed. With contin- ued hard work and dedication this years freshman will develop into a fine varsity team in the future.
