VARSITY COACH FDIKELDEY Gerald Blnkley Bob Duvall HIS year the Lampeter cagers opened their 1949 1950 cage season by dropping a heartbreaker to East Hem field P by a close count of 33 31 Not to have their spirits dampened by this close loss they rebounded to take Upper Leacock by eight points and eked out Marietta 28 27 in a hotly disputed finish of the game As the s ason progressed it was h1 lited by several more close games in which Lampeter managed to come out on top several times The team was capta1ned by Dick Hess a semor who always came through with a great defensive game Other members of the varsity were Ed Appel jack Ferich Gerald Binkley Bob Duvall Vern Lefever Milt Hershey Darwin Eckman Ray Graybill and Glenn Rineer Only three members of the present varsity squad will be graduated this year Although the current season didn't prove to be a great success in the win and loss column it did prepare most of the fellows for the coming campaigrs The nucleus of this year s squad was sophomores and should prove to be a sound basis on which to build for the future.
