The sages tell us that memory fails, and that is is well to have a record in black and white to authenticate the stories of youth that die in the passing of years. So, we feel that the time and effort that produced this book is justified if it serves to recall a cherished memory - - - a moment or an hour, or a recollection of joy and exuberance that were ours during our days at West Lamar in 1960-1961. Decficaiion To you, our mothers and fathers, whose interests have been in the improvement of our lives - — whose love and encourage- ment have been inspirational - - - whose sacrifices have made possible these many years of education, we respectfully and lovingly dedicate the 1961 Leopard to you. We hope this tribute you so rightly deserve will show how very much we love you. As the year of 1960-61 becomes history, may these pages, as they are turned, bring a happy memory for each student and teacher.
