VIKING FOOTBALL I 67 VIKING VOLLEYBALL This year's volleyball team has been an exceptionally delightful group to work with, says coach Marilyn Parey at the 1988-84 West Junior volleyball team. Coach Parey and her assistant coach Miss McGrath, instructed a team of 15 players, as well as five managers. Even though the managers didn't play in the games, they worked out with the rest of the volleyball team from 8100 to 5:30. When asked about the strong points at this year's team, Coach Parey replied that, Height, jumping ability, spiking, and setting were definitely what let the team ga much farther - much faster than any other previous team here at West, The Coach added, however, that the team needed much more work an serving, serve receiving, and team consistency. Because of l these weaker points, the coach said that, With so much equity and talent, it was, hard to tell who would have a good day or a bad rt Ms, Parey expects more of this year's volleyball squad to continue playing volleyball in the upcoming I years in high schaoi, and believes that volleyball will eventually rival basketball in popularity wfzsr Jumon mon J A VOLLEYBALL ,hun-alum tire Courtesy Knudsen Photography The 1980-64 West Junior Volleyball Team is, from left to right Cback rowbz Janie Jackson, Tracy Porter, Heather Campbell, Debbie Hawley, Tracy Gordon.
