Miss Adrienne Bonnin escorted by Mr. Kenneth Holland. Miss Bonnin is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bonnin. She is a member of the L. W. Hig- gins Future Business Leaders of America Club. Adrienne is a member of the community sorority Beta Kappa Phi and a sweetheart for Alpha Sigma Chi fraternity. Mr. Holland is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hol- land. He is the Deputy Group Commander of the West Jefferson AFROTC. Kenneth is president of the National Honor Society and a member of Mu Alpha Theta and Prep Quiz Bowl. Kenneth attended Boys State. Ralph Schulthien, President of the Football Booster, helps our Queen select a winner for the color televi- sion. Miss Robin Rodriquez escorted by Mr. W. R. Holman III. Miss Rodriquez is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rodriquez. She was a runner up in the Miss West Jefferson Pageant. Robin participates in community sororities. Mr. Holman is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Holman Jr. W. R. is the editor of the yearbook and a member of the National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America. He attended Boys State. W. R. is a member of AEX a social fraternity. He also participates in Academic Games. 67

Homecoming 1978 Adrienne Bonnin, escorted by Kenneth Hol- land, a senior at L. W. Higgins High School was crowned Queen of the 23rd Annual Homecom- ing Festivities at the game on Friday, Novem- ber 3, 1978. The identity of the Queen remains a secret until the halftime ceremony when Larry Berto- lino, master of ceremonies, made the announcement. Immediately following the ride in Corvette convertibles around the stadium, the court members were introduced as they walked across the field. The dance was held on Saturday, November 4, in the Higgins Fieldhouse and featured the band Orpheus. QUEEN 1978 66

Miss Annette Jones escorted by Mr. Brandon Williams. Miss Jones is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mel- vin Jones. She is enrolled in L. W. Higgins Stu- dent Practical Nurse Program. Annette served as co-captain of the flag team in her sophomore year. Mr. Williams is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Williams, Jr. He is the Senior Class Secretary of West Jefferson. Brandon has been a member of the Black History Club for four years and is pres- ently serving as Vice-President. He is a member of Future Business Leaders of America, Student Council, and the Sports Editor of the Yearbook. What were you doing when the lights went out??? Miss Sharon Babin escorted by Mr. Jose Martin. Miss Babin is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Val- erie Babin. She has been a West Jefferson Pira- teer for 3 years. Sharon has been a member of the L. W. Higgins Band for 4 years and is pres- ently serving as Vice-President. She also partici- pates in community fraternities and sororities. Mr. Martin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Mar- tin. He is presently serving as Mr. Buccaneer. Jose has been class president and has served on the Student Council as Parliamentarian. 68
