Cheerleader Awards The West Jefferson cheerleaders returned from Texas this summer with several awards and ribbons. The squad attended camp at Sam Hous- ton State University in Huntsville, Texas. Their awards included 1 excellent ribbon, 3 superior ribbons, The Super Star Squad ribbon, and the Spirit Stick. The most prized award was, for the 3rd consecutive year, again awarded to the W.J. squad — The Spirit Megaphone. This is voted on by the 90 squads in attendance for the squad with the most spirit and enthusiasm throughout the week, or as the National Cheerleader Assoc, instructor said The one squad the others felt deserved it. Cheerleader ' s present to display their awards were from top left; cricket Brian Markwica, Carrol Clark, and kneeling; Sheila McGinnis. 24

Who ' s Who on West Jefferson Campus Thirty-four members of the 1979 Senior Class have been designated as Who ' s Who on the West Jefferson Campus. Selection has been a coveted honor of the Senior Class members. Each senior receives through his home- room teacher a form to complete regarding his extra-curricular activities, the honors he has received and his contributions to West Jefferson. Using a point system the seniors are then scored by a committee consisting of stu- dents and faculty members and those selected are finally reviewed by another committee of teachers, administrators and disciplinarians.
