R.O.T.C. We§t Jefferson ' s Air Force Junior ROTC is the largest group in Louisiana. The 63rd Louisiana AFJROTC Group — the official name of the organization — consistently has been recognized as an Honor Unit, the highest recognition accorded by the Air Force. Training in ROTC is centered on aerospace education, leadership training and career opportunities. The instructors have a combined experience of over 80 years in the military and 30 years of teaching. This is the 2nd year the girls are in this outstanding program. Physical Fitness The Buccaneer Marine Corps Youth Physical Fitness Team is in its fourth year of High School Compe- tition. Its purpose is to train youth and promote worthwhile activities that will assist the growth development of the participant ' s body as well as a marked improvement in their strength, stamina and endurance. Our aim is to further improve the general health of the individual with the use of jogging, free exer- cises, diet, and weight training. Competing over the years, West Jefferson ' s Team won two city championships (1975 and 1976) and were runner-up in the State of Louisiana Championship Meet at Tulane University, in 1 976. This year we are anticipating lots of good fortune for our boys as they will compete with 50 tough high schools in the state of Louisiana. The Physical Fitness Team is headed by Mr. Eugene J.
