Sea Explorers Sea Exploring is for all young men and women who have love of the sea and its traditions. As part of its steering gear, Sea Exploring splices into the lore of the sea the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America — a code of conduct so good and strong that it has more than stood the test of time. The Sea Explorers learn skills in all types of vessels, marlinspike seamanship, ground tackle, piloting, signaling, military drills, swimming, fishing, cruising, safety, cooking, shipboard life, sailing, first aid, nav- igation, boat maintenance, and rules of the road. FBLA The Future Business Leaders of America is a national organization for all high school students participating in the business and office programs in the Business Education Department. West Jefferson has the distinct honor of hold- ing Chapter number 277, the 1st chapter organ- ized in the New Orleans area by Mrs. Anite Cur- rault. Members participated in contest on the district, state and national levels. This year the West Jef- ferson Chapter is running a candidate for District VIII Vice-President. Louisiana will host the 1979 National Leadership Conference in New Orleans at the Hilton Hotel. FBLA gives the students an insight into the competitive side of the business world through its business related contests. Mrs. Kay Stiles and Mrs. Bertha Shiloh serve as sponsors. Front to Back. Hunting Fishing Club The Hunting and Fishing Club this year is sponsored by Mr. Pete Enriques and Mr. Arnold Garibaldi. Each member of the Hunting and Fishing Club enjoyed the many discussions on good hunting and fishing spots in the area.
