Bucs 7 Eagles Remember the playoffs! could have been the battle cry of the Bucs on this muddy evening, but the history of the playoffs did not repeat itself. The lone WJ touchdown came on a 47 yd run by Darryl Triplett with only 2:37 left in the game. Myron Walker kicking one of many PATs. Bucs 20 Tigers 14 One of the worst officiating jobs ever , commented coach Crosby. Although the Bucs played the officials as well as the Thibodeaux football team, Quicksilver and Scarlet Fever came through as usual. After the Tigers scored early in the first half, the Bucs came roaring back with a two yard run by Edwin Brazil at the end of the half. In the third quarter the Bucs became airborne. The first TD pass came on a 45-yd pass from Henderson to Triplett; the next, a 1 0-yd pass from Hen- derson to Robinson. This win made the long ride home a bit more enjoyable. Let go of my leg. 106

Buccaneer Football 78 Coach Henry Crosby ' s Bucs started the 1978-79 season last spring with scrimmage games against O. Perry Walker and St. Augustine. Even though these games ended in ties and not victories for the Bucs, they made the Scarlet and Silver squad strive for the ultimate goal in prep Quad — A sports, the state cham- pionship. Jamboree The tension was thick for the opening night for the Bucs as they were facing the Hahnville Tigers in a traditional rivalry. The scoring was executed in high fashion by Aaron Kent and Daryll Tripplet. Daryll Triplett going for a TD. Bucs 27 Tarpons 7 The Bucs traveled to Galliano where the 1977 Quad-A champs had never been defeated in three seasons, until the fateful night of Sept. 8 when Quicksilver and Scarlet Fever marched on to glory to defeat the Tarpons. The Bucs ' first score came on a 16 yd. T.D. pass from Dexter Henderson to TE Cordell Robinson. With the superb rushing of Aaron Kent, the Bucs were within scoring range again. The next TD came from Henderson to Daryll Triplett. Great running by Kent, Tripplet, Battle, and Brazil and fine catching by Cordell Robinson and Amando Cas- tillo brought the Bucs to the Tarpons 1 yd line where QB Dexter Henderson took it over from there. With a 20 to 7 lead, one of the Bucs, namely Daryll Triplett, would not give up. He twisted, wiggled, and bal anced his way for a 23 yd TD. Aaron Kent rushed for almost 200 yds. and received the first Prep Player of the Week award for the year. The team also received the rating of the No. 1 Quad A Team in the state. 105

BucsO Bulldogs 29 Plagued by injuries and needing a rest, the Bucs traveled to Lutcher to face the No. 2 ranked triple A power. Quicksilver and Scarlet Fever just couldn ' t get it together. The Bulldogs just out- manned the Scarlet and Silver squad and strip- ped them of their No. 1 ranking. Joe Morton takes an interception. Bucs 20 Roneagles 13 After two hard weeks on the road, the Bucs are glad to be home again. The Roneagles were not ready for what the Bucs had in store for them. A 50 yard drive was capped off by Dexter Hender- son going over from the one. A Scarlet fever blocked punt on the 20 yard line set up the next Buc TD, this one by Superman Aaron Kent. The final WJ tally capped a 60-yard drive. It came when Dexter Henderson scooted around end for 50-yds. This win gave the Bucs extra confidence for the opening district game next week.
