' I REBECCA GEGENHEIMER President A :ABN - 5212553 -fbuzsn P 1959 finds the Beta Club proving their qualities of leadership in their service to the school in many of the important functions of West Jefferson, Open House, Homecoming, P.T.A, meeting, schedule making, Speech Play. The two most important activities are the Annual Stunt Show and Career Day, Hidden talent, clever ideas, and very effective showmanship came to light in the Stunt Show. The purpose of Beta in this activity is to encourage students to greater achievement in their studies and to reward with the Order of the Torch those students who prove their scholastic mettle, Realizing that there is a need for every American to find the place where he can give his best and to prepare himself for that place, the Beta Club sponsors Career Day, This year thirty-five different fields of activity were represented and experts in these fields conferred with interested students. It proved a very valuable activity, The Beta girls enjoyed the state convention and won first prize in a state competition, They are planning a surprise banquet to end the year's activities.
