The Council conducts Teacher Appreciation Day and is co-host with the Future Teachers of America at the annual luncheon honoring the faculty. Working close together, the Council and Key Club have sponsored sock hops and with the proceeds have purchased a piano and have helped pay for the portable Public Address System which may be used both indoors and outdoors. This year the Council has contrib- uted one hundred dollars to the testing program, As a result of a study conducted by the Council, the school bus schedule was adjusted and racks for clothing were placed in the locker rooms of the gymna- sium. As routine services the Council arranges seating for regular and special programs, ushers at any functions, participates in interclub activities which sponsor service to the school, and conducts the March of Dimes Campaign. The Council further is responsible through student body vote for setting up the Code of Ethics for West Jefferson students. Each homeroom has two representatives. All suggestions for the betterment of the school brought by them to the Council are studied, discussed, and acted upon promptly. The Council's decisions and recommendations are referred to Mr. Martina for study and administrative decision. The Council conducts an orientation program every September to inform new students of the many clubs and activities in which they may participate, conducts the campaign and election of class officers, and plans and executes all homecom- ing activities.
