Stage Manager Tommy Callegan Dr. and Mrs. Gibbs having breakfast. ft Reviewer: KENNETH BYRNE The Speech Department followed last year's successful Cradle Song with the challenging but beautiful Our Town, a play which reaches into America's past and pre- sents in a moving and dramatic manner a way of life which, unfortunately, no longer exists in our troubled times. The cast, under the able direction of Mr. Howard, had an amazing ESPRIT DE CORPS. They seemed to be enjoying the play tremendously. The lighting, the background music, and the sound effects, under the capable direction of Mr. Magendie and Mr. Donner, ably assisted backstage by Charles Case, Chad Donnes, and Louis Fournier, were effec- tive and added much to this quality production, The costumes made by the Home Economics Department were excellent. In the unduly long Stage Manager's role, Tommy Calegan gave an outstanding performance. Not only was he line per- fect, but he was also completely in character throughout the play. His performance was all the more remarkable when one considers that he was a dramatic novice performing one of the most difficult roles in the American theater. In the other important leading roles, Gail Borchers as Mrs. Gibbs, lane Trosclair as Mrs. Webb, Tom Naff as Dr. Gibbs, and Gary Dufour as Mr. Webb were standours. Diana Wright and Colin Taulli were a wonderful team as the teenage lovers, George and Rebecca getting ready for school. Dr. Gibbs gives advice to son, George.
