The purpose of the Spanish Club is to acquaint the students with the culture of Spanish speaking countries.

Membership is open to boys and girls in actual attendance in public private, and parochial schools in all Red Cross chapters and in schools operating under American mili- tary jurisdiction in other countries. Enrollment means opportunities for youth to SERVE OTHERS locally nationally, and internationally. The Junior Red Cross school council is made up of student representatives who assist the teacher sponsors in enrollment and all service activities.

It was founded in 1936, and in 1955-56 there were 41,000 members in 835 chapters. The purpose of the Junior Classical League is to encourage among the young people of our time interest in and appreciation of the civilization, language, literature and art of ancient Greece and Rome, and to give them some understanding of the debt of our own culture to that of classical antiquity. Our chapter in West Jefferson has been quite active for the past two years.
