WEST HOPKINS REBEL 1970 VOLUME VIII NEBO, KENTUCKY Editor — Brenda Purdy Sponsors — Mrs. Watson, Miss Ockerman and Mrs. Crowe. In Memory Of Darla Hicks We Dedicate During her last year at West Hopkins, Darla was energetically engaged in many activities, such as the Beta Club, Pep Club and FHA. She also played a small but important part in the school play, “THE MOUSE THAT ROARED.” From her early grade school days Darla was always interested in music, and at West Hopkins she played a significant part in band. Darla’s ready smile and happy nature guaranteed her many friends. She will be remembered by all who knew her, and especially by those who shared her happy moments. 2 And Georgetta Frazer The 1970 Rebel Georgia’s last year at West Hopkins was filled with many exciting activities. Since music was her favorite pastime, she earned the chair of first flute in the band. Georgia was a participating member of the Beta Club, Pep Club, FHA, and Archery Club. While winning several awards in speech and debate, she still maintained her high scholastic standing. Moreover, she still found time to play the leading role in “THE MOUSE THAT ROARED.” Although her determination to succeed in whatever she undertook was the keynote of her character, what en- deared her to many friends was her friendly smile and happy personality. 3 All Of This Runs By Rebel Power 4 ME RICA 5 S CHO OL LIFE Graduating Senior Class Of 1970 Front row left to right: Georgia Marret, Naomi Jenkins, Kay Moore, Wetona Fields, Martha Bratcher, Bernadette Martin, Angie Orten, Brenda Terrell, Dona Mitchell, Linda McGrew, Thressa Duncan, Donna Brown, Daphne Blalock, Janet Car- rol, Arlinda Weir, Judy Jarvis, Betty Bratcher, Charlotte Dismang, Carolyn Law, Libby Gunn, Linda McNeily. This is the end, or is it the beginning? All our lives we have been waiting for this moment; and now it is here. It causes us to remember the Freshman year and those exasperating initiations. The Sopho- more year when we gave the party for the fresh- men. We spent a hectic Junior year planning and giving the Prom. But the Senior year has been the best. It has been the longest and the shortest year of our high school life. Then, suddenly it is over and now we must step out into a strange new world.
