B J A U S N K I E 9 T R B A L ' L SENIOR VOLLEYBALL . Senior volleyball was held on Tuesday after- noons, and lasted from September to November. The school team played in the inter-school tournament in November. This tournament was divided into two sections, the eastern section, which played at Montreal High School, and the western section, which played at West Hill. The following week Mount Royal, which came first in the west, and Montreal West and West Hill, who tied for second, met the winners of the east, Rosemount and Strathcona. Strathcona won. The following girls made up the West Hill team: Marilyn Carlaw, Sandra Ranson, Anne Stirling, Pat Espley, Gail Whittaker, Sherrill Rand, Jeanette Baird, Judi Collinge, Dawn Cham- pion, Sue Richardson, Barbara Coutts, Marion Lipsett, Olga Bubalo, Catherine Martin, Inta Frismanis, and Hannah Archibald fCaptainl. The members of the volleyball team would like to express their sincere thanks to Miss Phe- lan for her expert coaching throughout the season. Hannah Archibald INTERMEDIATE VOLLEYBALL On November 16th, at West Hill High School, the Intermediate Girl's Volleyball Tournament got underway. Under the expert guidence of Miss Gilmore, West Hill reached the semi-finals, where they were defeated by Strathcona. In the finals, Rosemount placed first, and Lachine High School was second. The girls representing West Hill were: Nancy Hankin, Margaret Grieves, Janet Sauve, Diane Edgar, Sandra Ramsay, Judy Reich, Diane Davies, Irene Brakefield-Moore, Gwen Byrd, Shirley Szebik, Susan Cape, Judy Lamb, Roberta Coutts. Many thanks to Miss Gilmore for the time and effort she spent on the team. Roberta Coutts TENNIS The annual inter-school tennis tournament was held on October 3rd at the Monkland Tennis Club, with four schools competing. West Hill won the cup with nine points, a half point lead over Westmount Senior High School. The following girls represented West Hill: Marilyn Carlaw, Sandra Ranson, Jeanette Baird, Anne Hankin, Barbara Coutts, Louise Hourston, Judy Elliot, Margot Wright, Marilyn Kyba, and Sandra Playford. Our team's success was due to the expert coaching and assistance of Miss Gilmore, to whom the girls Wish to extend their thanks. Anne Hankin SENIOR BASKETBALL The girls' senior basketball tournament was held at Montreal High on February 14, and at Rosemount High School on February 21. Five teams competed for the right to play in the finals. The West Hill teams came second in their section and played very Well.
