B J A U S N K I E 0 T R B A L L SENIOR A FOOTBALL West Hill's senior A football team had a fine season this year. They made a tremendous effort to capture the championship, but after a close, hard-fought game they lost out to Loyola. The boys struggled and trained for many hours, striving to make themselves the best team in the league, and, even though they did not come out on top, they played a good, hard game and were a credit to West Hill. There were many outstanding players on the team, Bob Dickie at quarterback, played a tremendous game throughout the season as did Eddie Rubin, a 1956 All--Star and captain of the squad. Other players, too numerous to mention, also gave an excellent performance and were instrumental in leading the team to their many victories. The team wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the coach, Mr. Wood, for his many hours of hard work with the team, and also to the cheerleaders and fans, who supported them to the end. The final results of the games were: Exhibition- West Hill 21 g 10 West Hill 21 Verdun High 11 11 0 2 11 Catholic Hi h West Hill West Hill West Hill 30 6 West Hill 8 Loyola 13 Douglas Campbell, Manager D'Arcy McGee Loyola Montreal High JUNIOR FOOTBALL West Hill High School has reason to be proud of its Junior Football team, who for two years straight has beaten all opposition to win two junior championships. The team went through an unbeaten streak for two years largely due to the efforts and brilliant playing of Ian Mac- Donald Who quarterbacked both championship teams. We must also make some mention of the Big Train Milan Zipay, Whose playing this season was spectacular. Zipay was top scorer in the league, coming up with 64 of the teams 157 points. To give credit due, we must make mention of the strong play of the line, which included, John Allen, Ted Evans, and Merv Levin. We wish to make special mention of coach Mal Stanley without whose coaching, patience and understanding our success on the football field would not be possible. The team wishes him continual success. Howard Wolfe, Captain SENIOR A WATER POLO Although the W.H.H.S. water polo team did not acquire a trophy this year, it had a success- ful season. With well-arranged practices and more than adequate facilities the members of the team had an excellent training period. This year W.H.H.S. submitted two teams to the league. Led by the dynamic scorer, Jerry Edmunds, the first team gave keen competition to the other high schools. Humorous incidents arose, especially when W.H.H.S. team I played W.H.H.S. team II, the bewildered spectators, abandoning all hope of discerning who was for whom, would cheer the referee. Always booming directions and blowing whistles, Mr. Jardine coached this year's teams. We, the members of the teams, would like to thank Mr. Jardine for his time and patience. I might add a note of warning to next year's league: W.H.H.S. is going to Walk away with it. fThe water polo ballj. Abraham Hartman, XI-D
