And for the Barbarians: Letters sent to the Pope have had no response and therefore we are breaking off diplomatic re- lations with the Vatican. Attempts to revive the Latin Air Force have not been successful, but beware of killer pencils and the Killer Bitte. Oth- er events have included visits from Dr. Ruth, He- Man, Officer Mike Masterson, and a she-lion. The Latin Guard, led by Rambo, foiled plots against the Mag and is preparing to revive the Punic Wars by invading Libya. LATINA VIVIT SEMPERl STAGE CREW Mr. Rafoth ladvisorl, Tracy k Comb Schwenk, Ric op: David en. t from ell ck Kenney, jon Lu wise Clo ,rag Q Two times a year, during the fall play and the spring musical, the small but active Stage Crew, under the supervision of Mr. Rafoth, works until all hours of the morn- ing building sets, finding props, bracing platforms, hanging lights, and pushing '57 Chevies up icy Ash Street. This year's play: Spoon River Anthology, did not involve as 5 much work as some past presentations due to the sparse set. The Crew for Spoon River consisted of Jennifer Schulz, Cherie Urban, Peter Walz, Andrew Caddock, and Miriam Temin. During past shows Stage Crew has had to come to school as early as 7:00 AM on Saturdays! Sometimes, they even had to leave homework until 1 or 2 o'clock in the morning during the week, only to be bossed around and kicked by the unappre- ciative actors. As much as they complain, though l l want to go to bed D the Crew has a great time and produces a great show. Here's to another year of Summer Sausage and Colby, Bill the dustpan, and Mountain Dew. X, , f x f Ci-A-JI , s I ESTWCDRD The Westward staff, under the direction of Editor Mike Zuberbier and Advisor Ms. La- zar, had a fruitful and fulfilling year. The publication - now in its second year - was able to go beyond the point where other West publications had stopped. Through its use of in-depth, informative reporting, the magazine was able to educate the student body on such important, school-related is- sues as crime, Army Recruiters, and Indo- chinese students. The year did not pass solely in glory, how- ever. A major problem the paper faced was financing: because it is not at all subsidized by the school, the staff had to go through the pain of getting advertisments and . . . when worse came to worse, the staff picked up the tab themselves. Another problem Westword faces is that a large number of staff members are graduating this year. In any case, the staff should be commend- ed, and thanked, for providing West with an interesting publication that presents both new ideas and different viewpoints. zzfpiscfi-wssrwoizp Z?
