Practical Skills Are Developed l. 9, Miss Norton, Miss Lange, and Mrs. Sarver Typing, Business English, Business math and accounting are some of the courses taught by Miss Mareta Schmidley, Mr. Bruce Straw, and Mrs. Helen Johnson. Mr. Straw is in charge ot the textbook department and the school accounts. l l Typing and shorthand are valuable skills tor future college students as well as those who will enter the business world. Business education classes are taught by Miss Viola Norton, Miss Dorothy Lange, and Mrs. Eleanor Sarver. Other classes in this department include accounting and ottice practice. Miss Lange also advises paper shop. Miss Norton is the chairman ot the Business Education department and is also an advisor to Business Club. Sportsmanship Emphasized in Mr. Borland and Mr. Jones In the gym classes ot Mr. James Stevens and Mr. Thomas Hargraves, doing exercises and learning good sportsmanship play an important part. Mr. Stevens coaches West's varsity basketball squad as well as instruct- ing several gym classes. Mr. Hargraves teaches swimming and also coaches the swimming team. assistant coach for varsity tootball. The importance and responsibility of a drivers li cense is emphasized in the driver's education classes of Mr. Willis Jones. Mr. Jones is also the head coach ot the track squad and advisor to W-Club Mr Glenn Borland instructs iunior health classes and is also an it S 1 Mr. Hargraves and Mr. Stevens ' Pu Faculty members chat with each other at the faculty tea. 20 FACULTY
