Qbservation and Analysis The French department at West had several interesting and educational proiects this year. The French picnic, Mardi Gras, and talks from French speakers were among these activities. Miss s Florence Schweizer, who is head of the language department, teaches first, second, and third year A students. Mrs. Mary Kaye Jordan, Miss Judith An- derson and Mrs. June Moravcevich are the other members of the French department. Mrs. .lor- dan, who teaches fourth year students, is also an advisor to French Club. Miss Anderson and Mrs. Moravcevich both teach second and third year students, and are advisors to French Club. Miss Anderson, Miss Schweizer, Mrs. Moravcevich, 'and itopl Mrs. Jordan. faux fain German stories and other German literature is studied by the students in the German classes of my Mrs. Elsa Oliver and Miss Donna Ellefson. Mrs. Oliver teaches one first year German class, and Miss Ellefson instructs first, second, third and fourth year students. Mrs. Oliver and Miss Ellefson Latin translation and grammar are emphasized in the Latin classes of Mr. Patrick Frawley and Miss Eleanor Wilson. Mr. Frawley teaches second and third year Latin, and Miss Wilson has first, sec- ond and fourth year classes. Miss Wilson is also in charge of the honor roll. Mr. Frawley and Miss Wilson FACULTY 15

Learning Through Language Mr. Mason, Mrs. Garner, Mr. Otto, and Mrs. Hammond. Besides teaching us to speak the Spanish language, Mrs. Lucia Garner, Mrs. Karen Hammond, Mr. Joseph Mason, and Mr. Frank Gtto provide us with a special insight into the culture, history, and modern-day prob- lems of the many Spanish speaking people. All the Spanish teachers help with Spanish Club with Mrs. Garner as the main advisor. Mr. Otto is in charge of the Spanish newspaper and Mr. Mason is an intern teacher for the tirst semester. HK Miss Evelyn Baumann and Mr. Wallace Benson teach the advanced concepts of art. Mr. Benson advises Art Angle and is also the faculty advisor for social committee. Mrs. Schneider Something new in the language department at West, is the Russian teacher, Mrs. Joyce Schneider. Mrs. Schneider teaches basic Russian along with Russian culture, to sophomores and iuniors. Mr. Benson, and Miss Baumann.
