Students find D.E. shop a convenient place to buy sup- plies and other school necessities. To the Distributive Education student, D.E. gives the opportunity to have financial inde- pendence, credits in high school, social con- tact, business opportunity, and experience in futurejobsf' Distributive Education's advisor and teacher, Mrs. Fendley, taught the students how to apply tor, and meet the requirements of many differ- ent types of jobs. Most students left school each day at 12:30 to go to their training stations after having taken their required subjects in the morning. D.E. was indeed a lifesaver to those who want experi- ence in job training or who do not plan to attend college. 27

Art Exhibits Creativity Self-expression Mrs. Turley Art, in a sense, is a kind of magic: and the artist is the magician. He gives simple materials, such as paint and clay, dimension and meaning. Art students could develop an exciting hobby, or perhaps a career. Many times during the school year the art students made the halls at West more attractive with their original displays. 29
