Often we regard our teachers as watch- dogs, interested only in supervising our work and seeing that we behave ourselves. We ought to remember all the many times they have gone out of their way to help us and to guide us. We ought to remember especially, this past year when their loyalty and willingness to act, helped West through, what could have been, a maior crisis. Mn. Clark Cafeteria Manaqer After rushing to the lunchroom and through the line the friendly face of Mrs. Clark, the cafeteria manager, seems to make our lunches much more enjoyable. p- On behalf of the student body the WESTERNER STAFF OF i962 would like to express its sincere gratitude to the faculty for the unceasinq service, loyalty, and in- terest which they have continuously shown. As sophomores, we found a whole new world opening to us in the form of parties, pep rallies before ball games, classes, and school elections. Toward the end of our first yem' of high school, we began to look tor- ward to the next year when we would be upperclassmen. Before very long we found ourselves in the fall of '60 as juniors. One of the high- lights of the year was the arrival of our long- awaited class rings. We closed another eventful year with mixed feelings. We re- gretted that another year at West had passed by so quickly and we anticipated the happy times ahead of us as seniors. In the spring the Iunior-Senior Prom became a reality and, needless to say, a complete SUCCESS. At last in September, 1961: we reached our goal and we were envied seniors. Of course, our senior year was the best of all and was filled with amazing events. ln the spring We gave our senior banquet and completed preparations lor Class Day and Commencement. As our high school days draw to a close, we realize that we have ended the best years of our lives, Although we have wit- nessed such tragedies as losing three of our fellow classmates we are ready to face the future with the realization that tomorrow is what we make it, i 129 .. . . .
