1 V sir - - • ► i f You are the sixteenth class to be graduated from West Senior High School. Your class has lived up to the traditions of good scholarship, personal integrity and fair play which prevail at our school. Your teachers have found you to be competent, loyal and interested students. As you go forward to serve as active citizens of this great nation, we salute you. We know that you will meet the struggles of life with personal courage and faith. The faculty and I extend to all of you a sincere wish for a happy and successful life. CHARLES E. SHEA Principal For more than forty years, he has taught not only in high school, but also in junior high and adult evening school. His teaching career has brought him into close contact with people from all walks of life who have ever held him in high esteem. He is respected by his students not only as a teacher, but also as a friend. His outstanding feat was the introduction of textile courses into the school system. We sincerely wish that there were something even greater that we could do to express our heartfelt thanks for his helping to make West a more outstanding school. May God grant him many happy years of retirement. With this thought in mind, the class of 1956, insincere appreciation, dedicates this book to Mr. El- wood F. A. Euart. IN MEMORIAM CLARENCE J. LAMB EARL A. PHILLIPS As you have led us gently on To knowledge, faith, and love. May He, the Master Teacher, lead You in His Heavenly School above. May the lessons you have taught us here Be our guide and light alway Till we come with you in God's great school On that last Commencement Day. Are we at this hour in the midst of our days O'erlooking a future of uncertain years. As the mem'ry of dew on a fragrant young rose Remains though the rose may have withered and died. So the friends we have cherished and days that are gone Will remain in our hearts though our tears long have dried. Though our parting brings sorrow, we'll look on ahead. Surmounting each barrier through which we have trod, Remembering even in moments of joys To pause on life's highway, and give thanks to God. For He is our Master, our Lord, our Creator, Whose word was a beacon which guided our youth; May His Light remaining though years be uncertain, Still lighten our pathway, surrounded by truth.
