Kf- One of the real personal problems that confronts every one of us as that of making decrslons Not only must we make decls I ons on bug things like those that concern rellglon, educatlon, career, and marriage, but we must also make daily decisions on lesser things at home, school, work, and play Often these decnsrons on lesser thrngs are not so unimportant as they seem, for how we choose to meet these problems sets the pattern by whrch we are gurded an our evaluatlon of the bugger problems If I were to try to state In general terms the purpose of your school, I would say that nt as to provsde you wrth the mformatron, knowledge Ideals, habnts, skrlls, and attitudes that wall enable you to make llfe s declsrons wrsely and to the end that the h r ghest Drvlne and human :deals mrght be attamed as nearly perfectly as passable and wnth the least posslble doubt Your personal future and the future of your country rest upon your decrsnons, therefore make good use of what your school offers you, lest you trade Treasures for Trrnkets or A Blrthrnght for a Mess of Pot age Sincerely U77'W'fwLc Principals ,,. ,-4'4 Think that day lost whose low descending sun Views from thy hand no worthy action done Though today these twolmes are seldom heard their admonition has been heeded by young and old for over two centuries and seems now to be a part of the American conscience, steering many of our teen agers Into worth-while activities Have you ever noticed how many of the most popular students rn West High assume positions of leadership in church work, social life, sports, and clubs and yet find time to read widely and always be on the honor roll? They have learned to make good use of each day. This book pictures West Hugh School and its way of life the plant the faculty, students at work and students at play Each class has made its own TROJAN and its members keep it as a cherished memento of West High School days lt is wntha measure of satisfaction and delight, therefore, that we look forward to the TROJAN of this year lts worthy predecessors have set for it hugh standards of attainment and I know this book will carry on that tradition Congratula- tions to the editors and the class of l957.
