This has been due to the fine co- operation on the part of the members of the school board, the faculty of the entire system, the administrative officials, the P.T.A., the local merchants, and the com- munity as a whole. The school administration and the citizens of West sponsored a drive to pur- chase new uniforms for the band. This drive was an overwhelming success with the purchase of sixty-one new uniforms of the following: one band director, one drum major, four majorettes, three flag bearers, and fifty-two regular band mem- bers. Twenty additional uniforms will be purchased this summer to take care of the rapid increase of the enrollment of the band. The band played in three public concerts, the foot- ball games, and the Spring Festival, and marched in several parades. Next fall the band will perform at all the football games. :pu ,is A-. EJ, N. The West High School Chapter of the National Honor Society of Secondary Schools was originated by the 1950-51 Student Council, Gilbert Schutza, President. It was organized to honor students of high character, scholarship, leadership, and service, and to encourage other students to work toward these goals. All Juniors and Seniors with a ninety per cent scholastic average are eligible for membership to the society. Sophomores can be only honorary members. The Student Council hopes that the West Chapter will always be an organization that merits the highest respect and honor of the student body. Puffs AAN AGA? rs. v G' 4... mga 'S h era:-1 1.-1-5. West scored a total of 134 points to their opponents' 171, winning five out of nine games. Three men were placed on the first and second All-District teams, making this season one of the most successful ones in the past several years. The Trojans began the season by losing to a strong Cameron team 27-0, but they took their revenge on the Waco Kittens and Waco Tech by defeating them 33- 13 and 32-6 respectively. September 2.9 found the Trojans in Mexia losing to the State-Champion Black Cats 53-6. McGregor, Wests' next opponents, went down 12- 6. Home again the following week, the Trojans dropped a game to Gatesville 13-0, but bounced back with a 31-6 defeat of Mart. Determination and spirit were not enough to hold La Vega who defeated the Trojans 47-0 in front of a heart-broken Homecoming crowd. In the final game of the season West downed Itasca 2.0-0.
