To accomplish the idea of total education, the Social Studies Department employs many essential methods and devices for the stu- dents' educational programs. Salesrnanship and Distributive Education students operated the school bookstore and learned techniques of merchandising and dis- play while they provided a school service. They also planned and executed the designs in the display window at the intersection of E and K. Office Education and Distributive Education people were required to work at outside jobs in order to earn the additional credit offered. Large enrollments in the typevvriting and shorthand classes indicated that West is doing its share in providing office workers for the needs ofthe community.
