Right: Through experimenting, Jennifer Marts, Peggy Carey, Steve Baker, and Mike Stone learn some of the fundamentals of chemistry. Basic principles and how they apply to ev- eryday Iife are studied during courses in math and science. In the math department, a variety of cours- es includes everything from basic math to trig- onometry for seniors. Math teachers were kept busy explaining complex formulas to their students. Classes in the science department spent a year exploring and experimenting. During the year geology classes traveled around the state on field trips, and zoology classes explored around the school. One project of the depart- ment was landscaping the pond dug by previ- ous science classes. if

To accomplish the idea of total education, the Social Studies Department employs many essential methods and devices for the stu- dents' educational programs. New to the cur- riculum is Honors Seminar, which is con- cerned with an advanced teaching of history by means of writing a semester research pa- per or a series of crucial book reviews. ,gg Through the use ot maps, Mrs. Bonabel Bash illustrates a point during World Geography. Learning through listening is demonstrated in one of Mr. Ralph Jimenez's government classes. 18
