l assemblies assembly varieties i nform, entertain, bore When one views the empty stage, memories of different things that took place there return. First of all, the administration presented an orientation assembly to acquaint newcomers with some of the rules and traditions of West. Students became better acquainted with school leaders when they were installed. Teas- ers were presented before plays in order to preview them and invite people to see the full production. Eagerly anticipated were the sophomore- junior talent assembly and, of course, the sen- ior assembly. The Toys for Tots auction provided an hour of entertainment for stu- dents as well as Christmas gifts for needy children. Other assemblies offered travel experience and insight through films and speakers. Students filed into the auditorium to see the installation of officers. ABOVE: Dr. Friesen explained the rules and regulations to sophomores and new students at the orientation assem- bly. BELOW: A bewildered sophomore listens contentedly to Dr. Friesen at the assembly. Sophomores find their seats during the preparation of the orientation assembly.
