MRS. DOROTHY M. BUSCH Principal ZLQ.Vl4-B041-wah To the boys and girls of West High School: l feel that it is fitting that I devote my message this year to the memory of our super- intendent of schools, Malcolm H. Reed, who died January 16, 1966. He was interested in young people, and worked zealously in their behalf, and through his efforts, many good changes were effected in our school system. He wanted the best for our young people, and was very happy when he sensed improvement in our school system. He was also very active in community affairs, and gave unsparingly of his time to serve on committees for the betterment of our city. Such a man can well serve as an example and an inspiration to you boys and girls. He performed his work to the best of his ability, never loafing on the job, and going far beyond the call of duty. He felt that he owed it to society to work for the welfare of his fellow-men, and he taxed his own strength to serve their needs. His philosophy of life can be summed up in the quotation from the Bible, I shall light a candle of understanding in thine heart, which shall not be put out. 4
