The Mixed Emotions of 8 OO A M If ever there is a moment at West when students are involved with each other it is 8:00 a.m. Be- cause of the mixed emotions on the faces of the students, one is able to distinguish those who want to come to school from those who feel as though they never should have gone through the trouble of getting out of bed. It is the time of day friends retreat to their special corners to discuss all of the events of the night before. Eight in the morning involves a few moments set aside to contem- plate the rest of the day. Some are looking forward to their class ac- tivities, some to an aud, or some just for the last minute of seventh period to click.

Getting It All Together for aVictory WE FINALLY DID IT! October 23 witnessed the ecstatic victory over West's rival across town, the Central Blue Devils. Many charac- terized the Friday's pep aud as one of the best of the year, rising the sagging spirits of practically all the loyal fans. Under the leadership of Michelle Curtis, hope and cer- tainty rose steadily as the RAIVIS, SBA, and Pep Club offered hu- morous entertainment. The aud was climaxed as Mr. Rettko wheeled Mr. Liddy around the gym in a wheelchair. Rising from his chair, Liddy faced the football players, glowered, and pointed his pennant. Don't worry about that other guy! he yelled. As the countdown in the fourth quarter began to commence, ec- stasy transformed each student's face into something unique. When the final second ticked away, the happy tears and hoarse screams of We Won, We Beat Central! transformed even the most pessis- mistic fan into smiles. The day still continued as close to two hundred students honored each football player by cheering and practically mobbing each one as he emerged from the locker room. Yes, we finally did it. We beat Central, 14-12, in the game of the year. W -qgfa Q rw- if I
