A great future IS 1n store for the graduating class of Januarv 1947 Ambition iesourceful ness honesty intelligence and versatlllty are the characteristic traits of this 1mmortal and irre press1ble never to be forgotten class Since this unusual class carries so manv re markable traits I will endeavor to convey to you w1th the aid of youi constructive imaginations the futuristic achievements and accomplishments of mv classmates First we find those three great politicians Hubert Heard James Milne and Donnv Pappy Schoner who are candidates for office in that gieat election of 1958 The competition is mostly Heard Milne versus Schoner since the deciding question of this election 1S Should we ma1nta1n true 1313562 faire or should the government monopolize and galn full control of that great corporation of American Garbage Collecting? After four years of cl1mb1ng we the June class of 1947 have reached the summ1t of the f1rst range 1n our upward quest for learnmg Although our prlde sw ells on havmg ga1ned thls peak yet lt IS vwtn a feelmg of reg1et that we look back over the well known paths we have traversed Four years ago we began our ascent as fresh men and looked wlth awe and wonder at the hexght we were to cl1mb and the knowledge to be 1mbued Slowly we watched our progress as some of our schoolmates van1shed from Slght over the crest Whlle othe1s appea1ed small IH the dlstant valley from wh1ch we had r1sen F1nally vse ourselves arr1ved at the goal we have strlven so long to atta1n The paths whlch are so well known to us now were at f1rst rather puzzlmg to us as fresh men but we soon fam1l1ar1zed ourselves w1th the1r turns and bvways Wh1Ch enabled us to escape from the hands of pursumg teachers The class flrst rece1ved recogn1t1on m 9B when Jerry Dales George Mallo and Paul Conn made the football team Wh1Ch snowed 1ts 1ntell1gence when twenty three of ltS members made the honor roll Durmg 9A the class dec1d1ng to let the upper classmen run the school relaxed for a Whlle Then we became sophomores How grand lt made us feel to thlnk that we now had some responslbxllty and were an essentlal part of the school l1fe After a three month rest the class returned to school and got off to a flylng start 1n team The band chose Carl Hooper as the1r capta1n E1ghteen of the class made the honor roll When sprmg 1940 rolled around Jerry Dales and J1m Gerber were on the basketball team D1ck Grave m1ll was elected pres1dent of the Senlor H1 Y MHFVIH Gertz made the golf team The tenn1s team coached by Mr Harrls won the c1ty champlonshlp led by Capta1n B1ll Beyer who won the d1str1ct champ1onsh1p and was
