1' X X 21' Football XVEST M SUVTH YVest lost its third city series game to South hy a score of 5+ to 0. Art Graham, the South expert quarter-back and captain, handled his team well and took all the breaks of the game to South's advantage. South started by scoring in the first quarter and l-cept on scoring. Tobin also handled the XVest team in fine shape, but XVest could not seem to get started. The sensation of the game came when Tim Brewster. XVest's star half-back, got away to a 70 yard run for a touchdown in the last quarter. This saved XVest from a shutout. NVEST T5 NORTH ln the fourth game Coach Beichly started seven XV:-st subs and four VVest regulars. These subs under the direction of Ralph Harpster, quarter-back, gave good account of them- selves and scored 21 points to North's 12 in the first three quarters of the game. Then Coach Beichly put in the rest of the regulars. Several minutes later North scored. YVest opened up and at last scored, giving them the game ZS to 18. Tim Brewster played one of the hest games ever played by a high school half-hack in the city. He gained at will through the North line and acted like a college player on the defense. XVEST -Inv CENTRAL The last city series game was played with Central. XVest lost 4-I to ll. lt was the worst defeat suffered this year. lt cannot be said that XVest nent down without lighting. They fought to the last second but lost. Verne Charleton, the Central half-back, was the outstanding star of the game. The breaks seemed to come his way, and he completed a 95 yard run, an X8 yard run, and a 75 yard run besides runs of smaller gains. This game ended the playing of most uf the XVest Varsity. At the banquet given later Tim Brewster was elected captain for 1928. . ., 411 ,, , ,,-.-.hannuii . -Y e r 'f 'r .l m'lu' H 43' ly, V1 L1 'VT l ll il! il 'i 'i .i 1 i i i T' l i , i I I 4 l93l
