W 1 x today is yours to live Today is yours to live . . .live it well, For yesterday is just a shadow And tomorrowls light's unlit. But today is yours to live. Today is all youive got. This year the 1972 OCCIDENT Staff chose this quote as the theme for the yearbook. People tend to look back so much to the mistakes they made and then look ahead to see how they will change their mistakes. If people would only forget about the yesterdays they've lived and the tomorrows they have yet to live, less mistakes might be made. If one must look back, look at the good times you had at West. There have been bad times, but let us hope that the good times have outweighed the bad. And if you must look back try to remember all of the fun times and friends you had here in your years at West. Always remember-LIVE FOR TODAY! 2 Painting by Penny Spratley QL..fK xm. 4r table of contents Introduction ............ Faculty . . . Seniors . . Sports . . Juniors . . Activities . . Sophomores . . . Mr. Drury graduated from Ohio Wesleyan College with a B.A. degree in 1960. And in 1970, received his Masters Degree in Math Education from Ohio State University. Mr. Drury is married and has three children. He is also the Sen- ior Class Advisor, which includes planning the prom, banquet, and other projects. Mr. Drury is well-liked by almost all his students. He has been picked-on, nicknamed fRocky Squirrelj, and harrassed in his years at West, but excessively this year. Early this school-year Mr. Drury suffered a broken leg which forced him to use a cane for a few weeks. This brought about many comments. He took this all in stride. fWe hope anyway!! Mr. Drury, we want to dedicate this yearbook to you, because you have so patiently put up with us, because you are a great teacher, and because of the great things you have done for the students of West. I feel after winning 4 out of 5 games, we were dissatisfied that we couldn't win the championship. We had a lot of individual standouts and games where we stood out as a team. We have a lot of young people who will return next year. We are graduating one of the best senior classes, in so far as leadership and ability, that we have since I've been heref' Below are a few of the outstanding performances: Senior record 20-7 Scoring ftop twob TD EX.
