page ten JERRY RUFFNER FRED ELDER PRESIDENT VICE-PRESIDENT JEANNETTE LYLE PAT MANUS SECRETARY TREASURER 0 JANUARY The January Class of 1954 was organized in the spring of '53 with the election of the following class officers: Jerry Ruffner, President, Fred Elder, Vice- President, Jeannette Lyle, Secretary, and Pat Manus, Treasurer. The first class meetings were held in the spring. Class rings were purchased before the summer and became one of the seniors' most cherished possessions. ln the fall, committees were appointed and senior business was undertaken in earnest. Expense money was gathered from several sources. First an out-door movie was sponsored at Miles West Broad drive-in theater on November 6, 1953, which proved to be a financial success. Next came the sale of name cards and invitations and the collection of class dues. The informal Mixer was held on December 3 in room 150 and featured the usual rural theme. The Senior Banquet was held on January 13, and a week later the Senior Prom high-lighted all other senior activities and was a dance never to be forgotten. Baccalaureate was held on January 24 and com- mencement exercises followed on January 27. Thus ended twelve years of public school for the seniors. While high school days for the January Class were ended officially, each knew in his heart that the memory of these days spent in our beloved West High School would be with us always and that loyalty to our Alma Mater would never diminish within us.
