E OCCIDE Class Song Once some fran! Howers m danger Wlld by the wayside grew Crleved with their lot a gardener Planted the flowers anew Four years the gardener nursed them Cave them the best of care Dally the flowers grew stronger Nurtured with knowledge there CHORUS Now we must leave our haven Each has a task to do Leave all our faithful gardeners Always so kmd and true But we shall hold wlth gladness Thoughts of the days gone by For m the depths of our memorles School days can never due Gently the buds unfoldxng Each one wx!! now disclose Virtue and truth and honor Whlch ln their hearts repose Each llttle face upllfted Holding xts head ln axr Deep ln lts soul Ideals West Hx has fostered there Soon comes the warm wxnd blowing Strewxng them far from West Each will tread paths of duty Sowmg the seed Success Strxvmg to honor West H Wm xt what fame xt may Trl the tlred flower heads drooplng Wlther and fade away Rose Danzlger Senlorltls The other day during a lxttle chat wxth one of our teachers she accused the class of 21 of being affllcted wlth that terrible dlsease Semontns Now l am neither affirming nor denying the statement but l wlsh merely to ask If we do suffer from such a plague are not the teachers just a llttle but to blame3 For don t teachers naturally expect the Seniors to develop this disease and don t pupils just hate to dxsappomt people they love? Remember when we were Fresh1es3 Or doesn t your dlgmty allow you to think of such gloomy days? Day after day we were preached to about how shocking our actlons were when compared wlth those of Seniors We were such tlmxd things! Why the faculty sometimes smnled because we were so afrald of those little slips marked This entitles so and sol to a select seat m room 8 the Sth period And then we were Sophomores! How plamly l remember the first day l studled nn room I2 Some Semors were talking ln the front of the room l seated ln the back row was followmg thelr example Suddenly the teacher s volce rang out l am sure lf Mr Leahy wore glasses he would have looked right over thelr rlms The glrls ln the back seat are you SCDIOTSD No slr Sophomores Well you ll have to qunt that you ll have to walt tll you re Seniors to talk ln here! And that lsn t the worst! Qan you lmagme some umors even bemg barred from holdmg a seat m the bal cony of the audxtorxum because of congest1on3 Ah the bitterness of lt all Thus for three long years we struggled and wanted wanted for the pnvx lege of being a Semor and exerclsmg a Senior s rights ln une we gave our farewell party for the Semors glad that we can at last take then' places We wake up on the glorious mormng of that all lmportant day and stretch our arms and yawn Then we notice a strange feeling which has taken possesslon of us We jump out of bed and scrutxnlze the mlrror to fmd traces of Illness ln our faces Then suddenly we hlt upon the cause Why we are really and truly Semors tomght we bld the old class good bye From now on we shall be allowed to walk the halls to skip classes to reglster nn rooms I3 and I4 and to slt nn the balcony Oh! the delight of It all! Our very toes tangle wlth happiness such as a gxrl experiences the first time she puts up her han' or a boy when he dons hrs fxrst paxr of long trousers Now oh now we can be truly proud and look the teachers ln the face for we are what they have helped make us-SENlORS Continued on page 3I 27 T H N T 1. u.
