Despite the stampeding hordes of students waiting for cookies and caramel rolls, the cooks survived our shouts and grabbing hands. The students and faculty always appreciated their cheerful spirits and good service. Custodian Staff Keeping a building running smoothly takes training and skill. Our custodian staff has both, plus the quality of friendliness. They were interested in our activities and we will always remember them as a group of avid football fans with grandstand seats in 326. 11

Organizations As Seniors, some of us will end our classroom training this year, some will go on to four years of college, and a few will do advanced graduate work. But whatever our future, we will spend much time in association with informal groups. Thus, West High School has developed organizations to meet the great variety of student needs and to make our school life well rounded. Being in a school club, whether it is for social, academic, or philanthropic purposes, is a vital factor in developing personalities. Here we learn the rewards of brotherhood that could never be gained in formal classroom associations. The experience of working for the benefit of the group as a whole gives greater personal satisfactions than any achievement which has only individual gains. All of the clubs extend knowledge and give us the opportunity of working with a group with common interests. Some of the groups are service organizations and in them, help to others is the by-word. Whether it is making popcorn to be sold at a football game or planning a fund drive for a Greek orphan, these groups are practicing the virtue of giving, which is the real meaning of service. As individuals in our school groups, we learn to serve and contribute. In this way we enjoy our school more and are better prepared for participation in democratic life.
