OUR FACULTY Language Arts A study of French, Spanish and Latin is a necessity for those who wish to travel or wish to understand other nations and their customs. Cornell College B.A., Northwestern University M.A., Centro de los Estudios Historicos, Madrid, Spain. • English courses introduce students to their own national inheritance: to the best that has been Adventures in Literature thought and said by those who hove observed American life since its founding. English helps students to concentrate on improvement in speech and writing, to seek the aims and methods of good writers, to provide practice in journalistic writing and to study the drama. Shakespeare occupies a conspicuous place in the latter course. Drama classes also learn the art of acting and play production. They present several plays during the year for the enjoyment of West Students. The study of English literature introduces representative selections from the fifth to the twentieth century.
