A,B. and M.A. With accelerated space effort and the de- velopment of faster and faster super trans ports, the World is shrinking at an alarm- ing rate and the World's cultures and languages find themselves rubbing shoulders and intermingling more and more. This, basically, is the problem which the Foreign Language Department deals with at West-the problem of com- munication in a shrinking World. As always, the Department Was an active one with offerings in German, French, Russian, Spanish, and Latin coupled with the Sponsorship of two very busy clubs, LATIN AMERICAN STUDENT CLUB and FRENCH CLUB. An overhauled Special Education program caught students and members of the de- partment up in a whirl of activity that kept them moving all year long. Messrs. Koep- sel and Squires and Mesdames Duncan and Harris initiated a new program involving team teaching in two hour time blocks with a real emphasis on the practical. Among other varied activities, the classes worked to develop office-practice skills and insight into the problems of manufacturing and marketing. They produced several types of salable items which were sold in the DECA STORE in Room l48. Profits were banked to provide valuable experience with another aspect of the business world.
