l u- HEAD GIRL SHIRLEY AMBLER Through the first semester Shirley Ambler served as West's first lady, presiding over assemblies and represent- ing the school on all necessary occasions. In many ways Shirley has proved herself a real leader, xbeing persistent and thorough in her undertakings, and exceedingly friendly and cheerful toward all students. She has shown her dependability by shirking no responsibility. Her major accomplishments as head girl have been her work with Stu Cochran on the Inter-School Council and its drive to prevent Halloween vandalism, with Mr. Hill on his school clean-up campaign, and with Mrs. Snyder on the tin can collection. The senior class president for the first semester was Leonard Perlmutter, nick-named Lazy in spite of his membership in National Honor Society and his high schol- arship rating in the senior class. He was a nominee for mis elaflfi .feacfM4 'sglila i 5 PRESlDENT LEONARD PERLMUTTER HEAD sov STUART COCHRAN Stuart Cochran, first semester head boy, in addition to the usual tasks and duties of West head boys, served as president of the first Inter-School Council, which is an organization of the leaders of all Denver High Schools for the purpose of increasing cooperation among the high schools. As head boy Stuart presided over the Student Council and' assemblies, and also worked with the Lions Club on their glass clean-up drive. He has been very industrious and earnest in all his undertakings. However, not everything is work with Stu . He be- longs to the D Club, was center on the football team, where he parted with several of his teeth, and played catch on the baseball team. head boy the second semester. Leonard's hobby is collect-l ing records of classical music. He will attend the sity of Colorado, where he will study engineering. Univer- Tie it VICE-PRESIDENT SECRETARY TREASURER TOM MAY The vice-president of the first semester, Tom May, likes science and it is the chemical field which he will enter upon graduating. He raises pigeons and says that it is the best hobby anyone could have. He likes to dance and his favorite sports are football and wrestling. HELEN STRUMPFLER Helen Strumpfler was the first semester secre- tary of the senior class. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Helen will attend the Colorado State College of Education at Greeley, where she will take up physical therapy. She likes to dance, and basketball is her favorite sport. Z Cowboys, we'l1 stick together HAROLD STETZLER Treasurer for the first semester was Harold Stetzler. He is very active in the band and or- chestra, having been assistant director of both, and playing first chair in the trumpet section. Harold was a candidate for head boy the second semester. He likes to study and is one of the top men in the National Honor Society.
