The journey of the Class of 1924 I see the glittering tops, Of snow-peaked mounts, the w'id'ning vales expanse, Large prairies where free herds of horses prance, Exhaustless wealth of crops In vast magnificent extravagancef' This class of '24 began its journey at Fort t'Greenie in September, nine- teen hundred and twenty. They have now just reached their destination after having spent four years crossing riveis of Latin, plains of Geometry. prairies of Bot-any, and great mountains of Psychology. During the first year they progressed, but slowly, and most of the original party survived the altitude fthird floorj and scalpings or head-clippings inflicted by the 4'Braves inhabiting this new a11d dangerous territory. These Braves were better known as the upper-classmen. During the ensuing summer practically no progress was made on account of the intense heatg but, as autumnal days drew closer. these intrepid adven- turers took up their journey at Fort Sophomore, where a few other seekers of adventure joined the party. The perils of Math, Latin, and Science, then overtook them, but with strenuous work and diligence, few were left behind. Again during the next summer their progress was retarded, they had arrived at Fort Learning by this time. Fort Learning, also known as Fort Junior, was gladly reached, for it was widely known that this fort is the last before attaining the desired goal. Therefore in accordance with the danger and difficulty our faithful guides. Mrs. Hildegarde Sweet and Mr. George E. Hook. warned us against certain perils and misfortunes known as i'non-aca- demic subjectsf' They also counted our party, and when finding such a large number. they suggested that we select a leader: so, Glenn Wade, a well-known scout. was chosen by popular vote. Not long after this we were represented in a reading council by Mildred Lang, a fearless and daring young lady. Many had dropped out while constantly meeting new difliculties. but also many had been added to the company at different intervals: so thus. we had quite a large assembly when we were called together after the intervening summer. lVe again chose Glenn Wlade as our leader. he having proved himself very capable. and at the end of his term of office, Carl Clayton, another able scout. was chosen to succeed him. Then in order to record our four years' journey, Dorothe Hunn was chosen to edit our Annual. Of course it was necessary to have a council to manage general affairs. so we elected Lester Carpenter, Louise Hammond, Charles Elliott, and Ceora Glover to represent us. Some time later, two members of the party, who had been rewarded for their leadership, character, service, and dependability the years before, initi- ated twenty-three new adventures into this society. the standards of which have been named. Therefore membership denotes that the person stands among the highest in these qualities. And so the four short years passed, but each left its impression and im- print, which will always be a treasured memory to those who found it so difli- cult and yet so beneficial. CEORA E. GLOVER.
