i GID? ' ' - ' - r .. I t J West Batwomen Burn-up Diamonds Going into their second season. Coach Marge Fulton ' s girl Softball players are expected to do well in the Bay League. At press time, the girls had not yet begun their season, but Fulton insists that these multi-talented women will build a winning repu- tation for girl ' s softball . . . The girls are led by number one pitcher Sue Hirsch and on her receiving end is catcher Lynn Moorefield. A large percentage of this year ' s team are returnees from last year ' s squad, and that ' s pretty fair insurance for a winning season. Linda Potter (Above), pulls this line drive out of the air. The female Warriors beat South in this game 2-1. Lack of Courts No Obstacle For Female Netters This year ' s Girl netters capped off their season with an un- impressive 6 wins and 10 losses but, as in Boy ' s tennis, the girls are in one of the toughest leagues in the state. The Warriors were unsteady through the majority of the sea- son. Strong one week and then the exact opposite the next. Coach Marty Holly ' s standard line-up was usually the follow- ing: In singles: 1) Kim Schoening (Soph), 2) Carolyn LaBonte (Junior), 3) Maria Hibbard (Senior) 4) Bridgett Tsao (Senior), Doubles: 1) Julie Lucero (Junior), and Lynn Lester (Sopho- more), 2) Peggy Taggart (Senior), and Teddy King (Senior). The team with the best overall record was our first doubles (Lucero, Lester) who won 70% of their matches. Considering the court situation (West had to play all of their matches away due to our lack of courts) the Warriors did the best they could, ignoring the imposing deterant. The Jayvees finished off their season with a record of 5 wins and 3 losses. Holly expects many of these same players to help the Varsity in the coming 75 season. netter Carolyn LaBonte dispfays her excellent Left to Right-Judy Mclntire, Janice Rose, Sandy Luke, Sue Hirsch, Wendy Woodworth, Peggy Taggart, Maria Hibbard, Carolyn La- Bonte.
